On Saturday 7th December was Natural Cumbria’s first eco market, which was a Christmas Eco Market in Ambleside. It was such a success with over 20 stall holders from all over Cumbria selling their ethical goods. Even though the weather was awful we had a constant stream of people visiting and many saying they bought all their Christmas gifts there. We had many different businesses such as natural candle makers, zero waste shops, artwork, food stalls, vegan cakes, eco clothing and much more!
On the door we asked for a 50p donation and the money was split between 3 charities. We donated £34 and our member Firera Home donated £10 to each of our charities so they all received £44. The charities we chose were:
Papyrus – For the prevention of suicide in young people. This is a charity that is close to my heart which you can find out more about on my blog Walk’s and Run’s for Sophie
Another Way – A charity to help raise awareness about living sustainably, which was started by an amazing young person called Amy. You can find out more about Another Way here.
CAfS – Cumbria Action for Sustainability. https://cafs.org.uk/
We are planning more eco markets in the new year in both the North and South Lakes and at each event would like to find a way we can donate part of the money to good causes like these 3.
